Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation KAHRAMAA has celebrated the second anniversary of its National Campaign for the Conservation and Efficient use of Water and Electricity (Tarsheed).
The ceremony was held today under the patronage of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in the presence of HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, HE Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Chairman of Qatar General Electricity and Water Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari and a number of senior officials from various sectors.

In a statement on the sidelines of the ceremony, HE the Deputy Premier and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud said that the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation is making efforts to develop a plan for the future on water and electricity as the State of Qatar is now operating in accordance with its National Vision 2030. as well as its strategic plan for development, and the rationalization (Tarsheed) drive is part of this strategy which also includes the electricity and water sector.

HE Al Mahmoud underlined the importance of the ” Tarsheed ” drive in the service of Qatar National Vision 2030, as the National Vision has a strategy to reach this goal, he said adding that last year, 6 percent of water and 10 percent of electricity had been saved and in the coming years a plan will be set save a larger amount up to 20 percent of water and 35 percent of electricity, and if we go on adopting Tarsheed drive, we will achieve the desired goal of the Qatar National Vision 2030, he said.

For his part , Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari said based on Qatar National Vision 2030, KAHRAMAA has adopted the latest international standards and specifications to ensure that the provision of Qatar’s needs of Electricity and Water to achieve a sustainable service with high efficiency to improve the quality of life in the State “. ( Kahramaa (Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation) launched the five-year Tarsheed initiative which aims to achieve an effective reduction of electricity and water consumption by the country’s residents, both citizens and expatriates.

The campaign was launched in April last year on the occasion of “Earth Day” under the slogan “Keep Qatar pulsing. Consume wisely”. Tarsheed presents a significant opportunity for organisations and individuals to join the national efforts to protect the country’s resources and reduce water and electricity consumption.
