Qatar_flagThe Digital Business Incubator Centre of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology will organized on Monday a workshop on Angel Investing in the context of its efforts aimed to establish and develop an angel investment system at the communications and information technology sector and to realize Qatar Vision 2030 in building a knowledge-based economy.

The Angel Investor is an affluent individual who provides capital for a business start-up, usually in exchange for convertible debt or ownership equity. A small but increasing number of angel investors organize themselves into angel groups or angel networks to share research and pool their investment capital, as well as to provide advice to their portfolio companies. The angel investing culture is in its first phase in Qatar and needs more work to spread and promote it among Qatari investors and businessmen.

The workshop stemmed from the belief of the faith at Digital Business Incubator Centre in the need to support the work environment of business pioneers in the field of communications and information technology and to open up new prospects for investors who are interested to enter the telecommunications and technology information market through the support of emerging companies specializing in this field.

At the end of the workshop, it is expected that the establishment of the first Qatari angel investing network, specializes in investment in emerging technology companies, will be announced. The workshop programme includes lectures and presentations given by experts before a number of Qatari businessmen and investors as well as owners of some emerging companies and projects at the Digital Business Incubator Centre
