satellite_image_enOoredoo today announced the launch of an enhanced VSAT service in Qatar, aiming to connect businesses to the Internet in a faster, secure and more cost-effective manner, as the company continues to introduce new solutions in support of the Ooredoo Supernet.
The service called “VSAT Internet” has been launched in partnership with Eutelsat, one of world’s leading satellite operators, using its high-performance KA-SAT’s satellite dedicated to Internet broadband.
VSAT stands for Very Small Aperture Terminal, and the service provides a small satellite dish (77 cm) that is capable of both receiving and sending satellite signals. With this new offer, business customers will enjoy download speeds of up to 22 Mbps, as well as benefit from upload speeds of up to 6 Mbps.
Ooredoo’s VSAT services will provide communications support for a wide range of applications such as point-of-sales transactions, data processing, reservation systems, business continuity and high speed Internet access.
The VSAT Internet service is particularly useful for businesses in remote locations, operating effectively in the desert and coastal waters. It provides immediate access and the benefits of a flexible connectivity model and cost structure, on-demand volume booster, and a secure system with a 24/7 Network Operations Centre (NOC) for constant monitoring. It is designed to deliver tailored communication services to sectors such construction, government agencies, manufacturing, news agencies, hospitality and tourism, and agricultural companies.
Ooredoo’s VSAT service provides business customers with reliable, fast and cost effective Internet connectivity using the latest Ka-band VSAT technology. The use of Ka-band technology is amongst the first for Qatar, deploying small spot beams which allows frequency reuse to provide a higher throughput speed for internet.
CEO, Ooredoo Qatar, Waleed Al Sayed, said: “We’ve launched the new VSAT service to ensure that Qatar’s businesses have the best connections available 24/7 anywhere in the country. We are one of the first companies in the region providing state-of-the-art Ka-band technology to ensure the fastest connectivity, and a committed information rate so that our customers know what they are paying for is what they get.”
