GOIC Organises Workshop on Relationship Between Economic Indicators & Industrial Sectors

QNA_GOIC_22112015-(1)As part of GOIC’s efforts to train and develop industrial staff to boost the competitiveness of this vital sector, the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting held a training workshop entitled “The Relationship between Economic Indicators and Industrial Sectors” at its headquarters in Doha.
Assistant Secretary General for Industrial Information Sector at GOIC, Mohammed Al-Mukhaini, stressed the importance of improving the performance of industrial staff. He explained that the course would offer reference materials to deal with economic indicators in accordance with modern international comparison standards. Furthermore, the training covered basic economic concepts with emphasis on modern benchmark indicators, including composite indicators linked with supervision and evaluation regulations. Moreover, it highlighted the dynamics of economic sectors’ progress, levels of industrial productivity and the link between the industrial sector and government services.
The training workshop aimed at developing participants’ skills by introducing the basic concepts of macroeconomic variables, basic variables, modern measurement standards used by international databases, the implications of indicators, concepts of conventional, composite and competitiveness indicators, variation in modern benchmark databases and their fields of specialisation, means to develop indicators and determine metadata standards.
GOIC offers a number of training workshops to concerned parties according to their specific needs in various fields through the Organization’s Training and Capacity Development Program (TCD). The objective is to increase individual and organisational skills in the industrial sector of GCC countries and Yemen.
