The 6th Asian Ministerial Energy Roundtable (AMER6), to be held in Doha from November 8 to 10, will bring views of producers and consumers of energy in the Asian continent closer in light of the new reality in energy markets, said HE Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada.

In a statement issued by the ministry today, HE the Minister of Energy and Industry said that declines in oil and natural gas prices have a direct negative impact on producers in the short term and on consumers in the medium and long terms.

His Excellency said the meeting, which will be organized by the Ministry of Energy and Industry in collaboration with the International Energy Forum, is held at a time characterized by fluctuations in the global economy and the energy markets in particular, noting that recently several national and international oil companies reduced their investments and abandoned projects aimed at increasing production as a result of lower energy prices. This, he said, will affect producers’ ability to meet any increase in demand, which is inevitable in the near future.

HE Al Sada stated that this event, which will be attended by ministers and representatives from 30 largest producers and consumers of energy in the Asian continent, will focus on the importance of dialogue in the convergence of views to create a balance in the energy markets, and in securing global energy needs to ensure continued development in the participating countries.

HE Sheikh Mishaal bin Jabor Al-Thani, Chairman of the AMER6 Organizing Committee, said that the Ministry of Energy and Industry made all necessary arrangements to ensure the success of the 6th Asian Ministerial Energy Roundtable.
