International Trade Center (ITC) Executive Director Arancha Gonzalez has hailed Qatar as a model for free economy that is linked to innovation and international partnerships.
Speaking at the opening of the two-day 15th World Export Development Forum (WEDF) in Doha, Gonzalez said Qatar is connected to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and has a clear position regarding the support of small- and medium-sized enterprises in order to achieve the desired growth and the U.N. goals.
She highlighted ITC’s backing for Qatar as the former signed a contract with Qatar Development Bank to support SMEs, expressing hope that the event will come up with important decisions in this area.
WEDF brings together over 500 senior national and international policymakers, heads of trade support organizations, business leaders and representatives of international agencies. Through a varied program, participants will increase their practical knowledge in the latest innovations, processes and policies, and establish new partnerships and contacts through networking.
The event provides unparalleled opportunities for business operators to network and meet with potential partners. Organized by the ITC, the only United Nations organization with an exclusive focus on assisting SMEs to internationalize, WEDF is dedicated to the development of SMEs.
