Oman registers 233.5 mln riyals surplus ’14

Oman achieved a 233.5 million riyals (USD 606 million) budget surplus by end of last November due to relatively stable oil prices, beating projections the budget would suffer a 1.8 billion-riyal (USD 4.67 billion) deficit, official figures showed Sunday.
Government revenues between January and November last year amounted to 12.5 billion riyals, while spending reached 12.2 billion riyals, the National Center of Statistics and Information said in a bulletin.
It added that government income declined by 2.5 percent in the January-November period but non-oil revenues rose by 5.1 percent thus making up for the losses caused by the fluctuating oil prices.
Oil proceeds declined by 314.6 million riyals in the 11-month period last year to reach 9.4 billion riyals. Gas revenues retreated by 6.8 percent to 1.2 billion.
