Qatar Stock Index Drops 582.75 Points This Week

Qatar Stock Exchange index lost 582.75 points (-4.37 percent) this week when the bourse closed Thursday at 12,748.18 points. Trading value during this week decreased by 45.97 percent to reach QR 3,548,176,848.78 compared to QR 6,566,654,323.16 last week.

Trading volume decreased by 16.35 percent to reach 60,950,846 shares compared to last week’s corresponding figure of 72,866,547. The number of transactions fell by 6.13 percent from 37,797 last week to 35,480 this week. Market capitalization fell by 4.23 percent to reach QR 696,898,977,331.99 as compared to QR 727,688,053,009.32 at the end of the previous week.

Banking and financial services sector led traded value this week with 43.97 percent of the total traded value. Industries sector accounted for 19.10 percent. Real estate sector accounted for 17.79 percent and consumer goods and Services sector accounted 8.94 percent.

Real estate sector led traded volume during this week with 34.68 percent of the total traded volume. Banking and financial services sector accounted for 28.75 percent. Telecoms sector ranked third, accounted for 13.11 percent and industrials sector accounted 11.17 percent.

Banking and financial services sector led traded number of transactions this week with 31.45 percent of the total number of transactions. Real estate sector accounted for 22.03 percent. Industries sector ranked third, accounted for 21.85 percent and consumer goods and services sector accounted for 9.16 percent.

From the 43 listed companies, 35 declined and eight gained. QNB led traded value this week accounted for 14.24 percent of the total traded value. Islamic Group accounted for 11.57 percent and Barwa Real Estate accounted for 10.41 percent.
