RTA briefs delegation of Etihad Rail on asset protection practices

The Asset Management Department, Technical Support Services Sector, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has briefed a visiting delegation from Etihad Rail, the developer and operator of the UAE’s national railway network, on the best management practices adopted in line with the highest international standards. The visit is particularly relevant following the accreditation of the RTA recently as the recipient of the ISO 55001 standard in the field of asset management, rendering it the first public entity to obtain this certification worldwide; which echoes its ability to own the ingredients of quality and know what it takes to conserve assets over the long run.

The gathering was held in RTA Head Office in the presence of Udai Al Deesi, Director of RTA Assets; Ian Jeranan, Director of IT, Etihad Rail ; and a host of executives of both parties.

At the start of the gathering, Al Deesi welcomed the visiting delegation of the Etihad Rail ; which is one of the most prominent entities in the UAE in developing, constructing and operating rail networks for transporting passengers and commodities throughout the UAE. This communication, he says, offers a great opportunity for sharing expertise with the aim of improving and perfecting performance, particularly as the RTA and Etihad Rail are amongst the sort of entities that provide services via their owned assets. The RTA has spent huge amounts of money to own assets of roads, tunnels, metro, tram, bridges, buses, taxis, and marine transit means among other properties in the Emirate of Dubai, and is therefore keen on keeping these assets in a distinguished and special pattern not only at the UAE level but also across the world which is now appreciating and acclaiming such achievements.

As the Etihad Rail is seeking to provide safe and sustainable rail network, these gatherings offer a great opportunity for exchanging ideas, expertise and technologies that contribute to realizing the visions set for conserving these assets for future generations.

During the meeting, a detailed presentation was made about the organizational structure of the Department, affiliated sections and their tasks as well as the core business, strategic goals and objectives of the Department in future. The delegation was also introduced to all RTA -owned assets and how to utilize them along with an explanation of the key principles governing the implementation of asset management, application programs and monitoring techniques.
