Jordan, GCC strategize firmer cooperation

Jordan agreed with GCC states on a set of strategic objectives to boost cooperation between both sides, a statement by a Jordanian official said on Saturday.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Planning in Jordan, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, indicated in his statement that chief among the topics of discussion between both sides was means of boosting a commercial and economic agreement suggested by the Jordanian side to the 2nd meeting of the economic task force formed by the GCC general secretariat and Jordan, which ended its proceedings today in Riyadh.
Al-Kharabsheh headed the Jordanian side to the Riyadh meeting and heading the GCC side to the meeting was Kuwait’s Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance for Economic Affairs Dr. Sami Al-Saqoubi.
In his statement today, Al-Kharabsheh said other topics discussed in the meeting were those on the service industry, customs and tariffs, encouraging bilateral investments, supporting the partnership between the private and public sectors, taxation, and encouraging small and medium size businesses.
The meeting in Riyadh follows a previous one held last April in Amman and another one in Nov.7, 2012 which brought together GCC foreign ministers and Jordanian officials.
