Dubai Design District, D3, today announced a strategic partnership with du – the Official WiFi provider of Dubai Smart City, to provide WiFi services across the D3 area. The provision of WiFi at D3 is amongst the first few instances of an entire area in Dubai that has been enabled with full internet access, helping to pave the way for the Emirate to become a truly Smart City.
Earlier this year, Dubai’s Smart City initiative was launched byVice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. d3 was selected as the greenfield development site for the initiative, enabling it to act as a blank canvas for strategic partners to showcase their initiatives, which will help achieve Dubai’s vision to be the ‘Smartest place on Earth’ within the next three years.
The agreement between du and d3 will lead to the provision of WiFi U.A.E., networked by du to all of d3’s creative tenants and visitors to the area, ensuring they can stay connected and at high speeds. It also allows people to easily access important government services and information. State of the art broadband infrastructure will be run throughout d3’s public areas, including all F&B outlets and retail spaces.
As a 24/7 location, the partnership with du allows d3 to offer a multi-layered experience for the design community that will be based there, where the traditional boundaries of work and play are blurred. It also ensures a physical environment is erected that genuinely underpins d3’s commitment to pioneering design principles, with innovation possible on every corner.
