H.E. Minister Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri Visits OPEX 2014

Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri today visited the OPEX 2014, the Omani Products Exhibition, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The exhibition hosts this year more than 100 companies covering an overall space of 4000 square meter with a 70 percent increase in the exhibition size compared to the past year. This year, Omani Products Exhibition witnesses a remarkable participation from leading Omani companies from several industries, in addition to small and medium businesses.

Commenting on his visit to the exhibition, Al Mansouri said: “There is no doubt that the industry is a crucial component of any economy, as well as the integration of Arab industries in general and the Gulf ones in particular is very important, and we recognise the importance of it, especially between the U.A.E. and Oman. I have seen today in the Omani Products Exhibition various Omani products of high quality that reflects the prosperity of the land of Oman, I totally believe that we should include these Omani products and verticals in the local and gulf economic system.” Nasima Al Balushi, Ithraa’s Director General of Export Development said: “We look forward to the great opportunities OPEX 2014 will be offering to Omani businesses connecting them with importers and partners from around the world. The interest in OPEX 2014 generated over the past few months has been very promising. We have added several new elements to the exhibition program including site visits to key companies of interest in the U.A.E., which will give them a greater chance to cooperate and sign successful business deals amongst one another.” The Export Credit Guarantee Agency of Oman (ECGA), one of the main sponsors of Omani Products Exhibition, believes in the importance of the event that aims for increasing the non-oil exports of Oman to all parts of the world. According to the agency, the level of non-oil export (excluding re-exports) has grown substantially through the years from only RO 79 million in 1991, the year when the Agency first started its operations, to RO 3806.7 million in 2013, which in turn reflects the great opportunity of the increase in number of exports in the coming years.

The three-day Omani Products Exhibition is held under the patronage of his highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation. OPEX 2014 continues until tomorrow and is organised by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Public Establishment for Industrial Estates, Public Authority for Investment Promotion, and Export Development.
