Qatar Participates in Third International Conference on SIDS

Ahmed Amer Mohammed Al Hamidi, Minister of Environment and Tuilaepa Aiono, Prime Minister of Samoa

The State of Qatar took part in the Third International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS), held in Aiba, the capital of Samoa in the south Pacific.
The conference, during which the State of Qatar was represented by HE the Minister of Environment Ahmed Amer Mohammed Al Hamidi, discussed the sustainable development of SIDS through genuine and permanent partnerships, in addition to other topics related to the sustainable economic development, climate change, sustainable energy and disaster risk management.
On the sidelines of the conference, HE the Minister of Environment met with the Prime Minister of Samoa Tuilaepa Aiono Sailel and convoyed greetings of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani and their best wishes of success for the conference.
Talks during the meeting dealt also with a number of topics relating to the conference.
For his part, the Prime Minister of Samoa entrusted HE the Minister of Environment with his sincere greetings to HH the Emir and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, wishing more progress and welfare to the Qatari people under the wise leadership of HH the Emir.
HE the Minister of Environment also held a meeting with Ambassador for Climate Change at Sweden Ministry of the Environment, Anna Lindstedt and discussed with her a number of issues of mutual concern in the field of climate change and the two countries’ preparations for the upcoming negotiations.
